Presidents Letter for 2009
I'm looking forward to the new Year of 2009 Golf and I hope you are too. Here are some positive things about 3 Rivers Men's Club.
l. We have a great membership, there is a good spirit in the club. We hear some good humor during play. We have a good camaraderie during our meetings and during the Saturday Classics'.
2. We have some fine tournaments. In our survey, there was very little changes recommended and the majority of the members were happy with the format.
3. We have an excellent Jr. Golf Program. Mr. Langenbach's program offers some great training for kids who want to learn the fundamentals of golf.
4. We do have the driest course in the Northwest, which provides us with almost year around play.
So I offer you some challenges for the year. Out of our total membership, we average 39.5 players per Saturday Classic. How can we involve more of our members to join us in our monthly tournaments? Also, what are some ideas and incentives that would increase our membership for 2009? Let's put our heads together and come up with a plan to increase our membership and participation in tournaments. I await your suggestions.
I offer another challenge. We always need to speed up play. Here are three simple things that will make this happen. l) Line up your putts while others are putting and you'll be ready when it's your turn. 2) Once you have putted, head for the next tee. Forget the honors bit and tee off when ready. 3) Play ready golf. There is no need to wait for someone hitting on the far side of the fairway.
Let's have some fun in 2009. Crack some jokes, relax, and don't take the game too seriously. Remember they called it golf because it was the only 4 letter word left.
David Letterman has said, The NUMBER ONE reason why golf is better than sex.......... #l When your equipment gets old, you can replace it.
